Had some issues booking with a 3rd party website and when I got to the hotel I was told I didn’t have a room but, the owner of the hotel was very helpful, helped me get a refund off the website and helped me with getting a room at the hotel for the same price, amazing customer service
Perfect location and very friendly and helpful staff especially Michael who made sure i had everything I needed, rooms were more than adequate for my 3 nights stay, will definitely come back.
Great hotel. As long as you dont mind a big pile of pubes in the corner, pish stained beds , the carpets ripped everywhere and about 70 year old oh and a loft in your room.
My experience would suggest that a lot of these reviews are a little unfair. This hotel is easily half the price of nearby alternatives, and you have to expect that you get what you pay for. It is quite dated and dark, but I found it to be clean enough and perfectly comfortable. Some reviewers say you're locked out if you get back past 12, but haven't mentioned that they do give you a mobile number to call to be let in. It felt perfectly secure. Door locked late at night (as mentioned above). Pin code access to get past the reception area. Bars on the windows (which has been mentioned as a bad thing in other reviews- which is silly). Our ground floor room got a little too hot in the night so we opened the ginormous window fully, remaining perfectly safe, thanks to the bars. I can see why anxious travellers might feel unnerved by the place (like I said, it's a bit dated and dark) but I don't think there are any genuine grounds to feel at risk. The location was fantastic. Tonnes of unrestricted street parking around the area, and it's only a short bus ride into the city. We were there to see a concert at Manchester Academy, which was just a 10 minute bus ride. I'd stay here again.
Don't know why you'd rate this low, as the bed was very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spotless. (Okay, the decor was outdated, but the key things were spot on.) Great value too, in a quiet area of Manchester. We returned about 3am and the owner was still on site and let us in immediately. Would highly recommend and stay there again.
I have stayed at this hotel for over a year with a few breaks. I have found the owner and staff extremely helpful and courteous, it is clean and quiet and very reasonably priced baring in mind its location. I have no problem in recommending this hotel, I look forward to continuing my stay in the future
